The Goldin Institute is a Chicago-based non-profit that inspires, equips, and connects grassroots leaders in over 40 countries to lead community-driven social change. In Chicago, we host an annual Chicago Peace Fellows program to support shared learning and collaboration between grassroots leaders on the South and West Sides who lead violence prevention and peace building initiatives.

We are seeking a dynamic leader to support the growing network of 74 Peace Fellow Alumni who launched the Mutual Aid Collaborative as a platform for ongoing cooperation.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Reporting to the Director of Programs, the Facilitator of the Mutual Aid Collaborative will support our Chicago Alumni network as they design, fund, and implement community-driven projects as a community of practice. Responsibilities will include:

  • Shared Learning: design and host trainings, workshops, and a monthly Civic Partner series to support the ongoing collaboration and shared learning between the Peace Fellows alumni and support connections with Alumni around the world.
  • Collaborative Opportunities: support Peace Fellows alumni in their collaborative projects and help create opportunities within the Mutual Aid Collaborative for partnerships between Fellows using a “pooled fund” approach.
  • Illuminating Leadership: highlight innovative community builders and help document successful approaches to community-driven violence prevention by writing and producing multi-media stories for our website and social media.
  • Resource Development: work with the Development team to support fundraising efforts, budgeting, evaluation, and documentation of programs.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

The Goldin Institute is seeking an accomplished and creative leader to join our diverse global team. The ideal candidate would blend the ability to be self-directed as well as collaborative within a team. The position requires a commitment to our vision of community-driven social change, where the voices, perspectives, and aspirations of our network of local leaders drive the agenda. While not a requirement, preference will be given to Chicago Peace Fellow Alumni or candidates with experience working with Chicago Peace Fellows.

As the role includes strategy, facilitation, implementation, and evaluation, we are searching for a well-rounded and committed leader. The ideal candidate would bring an understanding of violence prevention and appreciation for the uniqueness of Chicago’s diverse communities who knows that the best solutions come from those most impacted by the issues.

We seek a leader with a minimum of three years of progressively responsible program management skills, including significant supervisory capacity. The ideal candidate will have experience working in community settings with proven problem-solving and group facilitation skills.

The position requires strong written and verbal communication skills and demonstrated facility with core office software such as word processing, spreadsheet management, presentations, shared calendars and the scheduling, hosting, and facilitation of virtual and in-person meetings. The Facilitator will be requested to create and maintain project tracking management systems and regular reporting for internal and external audiences.

COMPENSATION

This full-time position offers a salary range of $50,000 – $60,000 per year in addition to optional participation in our Simple IRA retirement program. Health care and other benefits are not currently available.
