In this holy month of Ramadan, our association of Volunteers Initiatives in Bridging and Empowering Society (VIBES), is raising $2,500 to support Project It’-ᾱm, an initiative which will provide free food to 1,000 young orphans for their Iftar (evening meal which Muslims end their daily Ramadan fast with at sunset) over a period of 10 days. Children and youth at the orphanages in Cotabato City and Maguindanao province continue to suffer from a lack of food, including during this holy month when they are fasting. It is everyone’s moral obligation to help alleviate suffering in the world and, in Islam, that time for compassion and giving is more enforced during the month of Ramadan.

VIBES202103

The month of Ramadan is a reminder to extend our circle of compassion including to those who we may not share a geographical, religious, or historical connection with. We do that through self-reflections, fasting, prayers, and abstinence from drugs and sex whilst constantly practicing gratitude and good deeds to others. Being of service to those less fortunate is especially important to us during this month.

We would really appreciate your support and contributions. Along with ten of our fellow volunteers at Positive VIBES, through project It’-ᾱm (Arabic term for feeding) we are committed to raising $2,500 in the next 11 days. So far, people from across the globe have contributed 16% of our fundraising goal. These donations will enable us to provide free Iftar (after sunset meal) to 1,000 orphans in the Philippines.
