David Metler
Mindfulness Coordination, Champion Education Network

Ever since David served in college on the Pangea World Service Team in Nicaragua, his soul has been on fire to figure out how to maximize his impact on social justice, inspired by love in solidarity with the global community. He received his BA in Secondary Education from the University of Michigan with a specialization in facilitating social justice dialogue, and later earned an MS and AbD PhD in Human Ecology, Human Development and Family Studies from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. David leads mindfulness trainings in a variety of grassroots and community based initiatives like the Wisconsin Prison Mindfulness Initiative and with the homeless population. He created and led the EcoWell Initiative at UW-Madison and founded his own business, Inner Passport, which is a creative social justice education platform, and is the co-founder of the Kindred Fellowship Program which is the first of its kind childhood-centered, mindfulness-based, social justice education fellowship for undergraduate and graduate students from around the world. He has over 12 years of experience in transformative mindful leadership education across the globe. In his free time, he has traveled to over 50 countries and is a travel blogger, is in the process of running a marathon on every continent, and enjoys creating and performing musical comedy with his mom-son band.
